Love Notes Itty Bitty Mini Album

Authentique Love Notes Itty Bitty Mini Album Reneabouquets Lacy Heart Shaker Frame by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

While cleaning out the Closet of Shame, I ran across this adorable 5″ x 4 1/4″ chipboard and canvas album from Maya Road.  I have no idea when or where I purchased it…or perhaps it was a gift.  But as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to pair it up with the Authentique Love Notes Collection.    First, I  wrapped the canvas cover with Pink Zebra Ribbon to serve as the closure. Next, I layered designer paper onto the canvas cover, leaving a 1/4″ margin all the way around the perimeter.  Then, I created a layered panel for my fussy cut focal image, added some velvet heart brads and a few teeny tiny embellishments.  Finally,  I heat embossed the Reneabouquets heart frame with Wow Vintage Pink Embossing Glitter and created the shaker element.

TIP:  When you can’t spread out, go up.  This small cover didn’t give me a lot of room for extra layers and images.  But I still created a sense of depth and dimension by adding chipboard and foam tape to the back of the elements.  Also, try fussy cutting the elements when you are creating a focal image for a small space.  The 3″ x 4″ image card looked awkward on this cover.  But once it was fussy cut, it fit perfectly.

Love Notes Itty Bitty Mini Album: The Spine Treatment

You wouldn’t think that this wide, bold ribbon would work with this itty bitty album, but it does!  I love the way it looks wrapped around the spine.  Tie a simple square knot at the top.  Then attach bangles with a looped safety pin.  Top with a cluster of flowers, and you are good to go!

Love Notes Itty Bitty Mini Album:  A Peek Inside

Because I have prepared a video tour for you, I won’t share a lot of details about the album here.  You can just look at the pictures and then go watch the video for tips and tricks.

I hope I’ve shared some tips, tricks and ideas you can use to help make your Valentine’s Day extra special!  If so I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below.  You’ll find a linked supply list at the bottom of this post.

I’m in Love…I’m All Shook Up Love Notes Shaker Box

Authentique Love Notes Shaker Box Reneabouquets Romance and Roses Beautiful Board by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

I’m in Love…I’m All Shook Up Love Notes Shaker Box for Valentine’s Day

Hello, Friends?  Got Chocolate?  Well, we might find some tucked in side this Love Notes Shaker Box project!  I’ve used Authentique Paper’s darling Love Notes Collection with a Reneabouquets Printed Beautiful Board Chipboard Frame to create this shabby chic beauty.  It’s a match made in heaven!

Love Notes Shaker Box: The Shaker Frame

The box folio measures just 5″ x 5″ with 1″ spines.  So the Reneabouquets Romance and Roses Printed Beautiful Board Frame was the perfect size to turn into a shaker top.  Here’s how I did it:

  • First, trace around the outside of the beautiful board frame onto a piece of clear cardstock.
  • Next, cut the traced image out, cutting inside the traced line so that it will fit perfectly behind the frame.
  • Now repeat this step, tracing onto the Love Notes Two pattern.
  • Adhere the clear cardstock to the back of the frame with Dries Clear Adhesive.  Use a baby wipe or damp paper towel to clean up any spillover.
  • Now die cut a doily to fit behind the heart frame.  I used the middle doily from the Heartfelt Creations Rounded Window Frame Die.
  • Place the Love Notes heart on the box card cover.  Fill the center with the shaker mix.
  • Back the heart frame with 3 layers of 1/8″ foam strips.  Then align over the sequin mix and press in place.

Add a  little sparkle to the ribbons on the heart with Diamond Stickles. Then add pink flowers, Garden Rose Ribbon, a vintage button and White Iridescent Metallic String to finish off the cover.

Love Notes Shaker Box: A Peek Inside

The inside of a card is just as much fun to create as the outside.  Add a box pocket, fill it with goodies and decorate it with a sticker from the Love Notes Collection.  Then create a sweet little folio on the top half of the card and tie it shut with a bit of pretty pink ribbon.

Look how cute it is!

And you’ll be voted “Best Valentine Ever” when you present this array of Valentine treats!  Dress a tea bag up inside a cute little wallet.  Wrap a cookie pack with designer paper and add a sticker.  Make a mini card, add a honey stick and a vintage silver plate spoon for extra fun.  And it just wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without a bit of chocolate!  Yum!

Since I was working with mostly scraps of this collection, I kept the inside simple.  Adhere the small sentiment card on sides and bottom to create a quick gift card holder.  Then you still have lots of room to write your own personal message.

Graphic 45 Love Notes Sneak Peeks

Graphic 45 Love Notes Sneak Peeks

Hello, Friends!  Today I’m sharing my Graphic 45 Love Notes Sneak Peeks with you.   I was lucky enough to be asked to create some samples using theses gorgeous papers.  These projects will be on display in the G45 booth at Creativation this year.  To see the mini album I created with By the Sea, look HERE.

Love Notes Sneak Peeks:  Music Themed Trifold Tag and Pocket Folio

Graphic 45 Love Notes Trifold Tag and Pocket Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 01

Let me tell you, friends…this collection is stunning!  I literally gasped when I pulled it out of the box.  The colors are deep and rich, the patterns are elegant and the theme is love and music.  It’s a collection written in the key of G for “gorgeous.”

An Ornate Antique Brass Door Knocker is is the perfect accent for this regal collection.  I’ve also added Shabby Chic Ornate Metal Brads in each corner of the album cover for that extra touch of class.  And of course, I had to add Little Birdie Rosalind Roses in Sangria and Buttermilk to the mix.

Because of a glitch at the printer’s I only received the signature page (Love Notes) and the cut apart page (Lovely Lyrics) along with the 12″ x 12″ Patterns and Solids.  But this was all I needed to compose  this 6 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ x 1″ ode to love and music.

Black Silky Crush Ribbon serves as the closure for the album.  Additional metal accents (G45 Shabby Chic Door Plate and Knob/Ornate Antique Brass Keys) are painted with black gesso, then brushed with gold paint to match the door knocker.

Love Notes Sneak Peeks:  Time Saving Tips

Creating for a trade show is lots of fun…and a fair bit of pressure as you are usually working on very short deadlines.  I received my package of G45 goodies at 3:30 PM on Monday and had to ship them out by 3:30 PM on Thursday to get them to the show on time.   When this is the case, you have to find ways to save time while still creating a showroom floor-worthy project.  I thought I’d share some of those time-saving tips with you.

Since I love interactive elements, I added lots of pockets with various inserts to this album.  To get things started on  the right note, I created a half page with a side pocket and tag inserts.

TIP: When you are creating on a short timeline, turn to your G45 tags and Tag Dies.  It took just moments to create these  lovely square tags.  First, cover the tags with paper from the Love Notes Signature page.  Then create a quick pocket with a cut apart image from “Lovely Lyrics.”  Adhere just the sides and the bottom, then tuck in more images from the cut part page.  Or, adhere just the edges of some fussy cut roses to create a tuck spot.  Then top the tags with a bit of ribbon and more ornate keys.  Simple, elegant and quick wins the day!

Love Notes Sneak Peeks: Policy Envelopes to the Rescue

Graphic 45 Love Notes Trifold Tag and Pocket Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 06

TIP: G45 Policy Envelopes make great flip features!  On the reverse side of the tag/pocket flap, I’ve used Red ATC Policy envelopes as a flip feature.  Here’s how:

  • First, carefully remove the string ties from the envelopes.
  • Next, trace the envelope flap onto designer paper.  Cut out and adhere to the inside of the envelope flap.
  • Now, cover the envelopes with designer paper.
  • Adhere the outside edge of the envelope flap to the album base.
  • Finish by adhering a key at the base of each envelope to weigh it down.
  • Small photos can be added to the front of each envelope if desired, and mementos can be securely tucked inside.  You also have a space behind each envelope to add a photo.

Decorate Large Black Policy Envelopes with your designer paper for quick and easy pocket inserts. Then, cut your pocket opening a little off center for an interesting look.

Love Notes Sneak Peeks:  Pull-Out Feature

Graphic 45 Love Notes Trifold Tag and Pocket Folio by Kathy Clement Kathy by Design Photo 09

The large center pocket on this album was begging for more tags.  This time, I covered 3 Regular Black tags with paper from the 12″ x 12″ Patterns and Solids.  Then, to change things up a little, I created little folios to hold photos and adhered them to the front of each tag.

TIP:  When adding designer paper to the back of the folio, leave an open edge at the top.  This makes space for a clever hidden tag insert.  Score a Large Black Tag at 3 3/4″.  Then die cut 2 tag liners using the Large Tag/ATC Tag and Flowers Die.  Cut each tag liner into 2 sections.  Adhere one section above and one below the score line and insert into the hidden pocket.

Love Notes Sneak Peeks: Valentines Day  Shaker Card from Scraps

Graphic 45 Love Notes Shaker Card by Kathy Clement For Creativation 2019 Photo 01

After creating the folio, I still had a few Love Notes Scraps on my work table.  So I decided to showcase the versatility of this collection by creating a very girly, shabby chic pink Valentine Shaker card.

Once again, I’ve altered a Tim Holtz Vignette Frame as the base for my shaker box element.  A small image from the cut apart page is popped up over the Signature page background, then filled with Rose Garden Sequin Mix.

Little Birdie Candy Flowers really pop against Black Plaid Ribbon.

A G45 Shabby Chic Clock Key is the perfect finishing touch for this romantic card.

The inside is very simple, as I was down to just a little fussy cut image and  few scraps of paper.  But I do love how elegant it looks.
